Why Major in Zoology?
The Zoology major at SIUC prepares students for the following career paths:
- Animal Biology prepares students for basic research and graduate study in animal ecology and evolution.
- Environmental biology, including toxicology and contamination ecology
- Fisheries biology and aquatic conservation
- Veterinary medicine and animal health
- Wildlife biology and conservation
- Nonscience careers with a background in zoology, including zoo keeping.
Graduates with a degree in Zoology may work for conservation agencies, enter medical, veterinary, or other professional schools, undertake graduate studies, or follow a wide variety of other career paths in the life sciences.
